Reverse Braid

THE LOOK

The reverse braid is exactly that—the reverse of a basic braid. It’s sometimes called the backward braid or inside-out braid. The technique is the same as the basic braid, but rather than bringing the sections over to form a braid, they move underneath to create a reverse braid. This technique shows off the structure of the braid more than a basic braid and stands away from the head. It works well in all hair types.

HOW TO GET IT REVERSE BRAID

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Brush
  • Hair elastic

1). Brush your hair to remove any knots and then split your hair into three equal pieces.

2). Take the piece on the left and cross it under the middle piece, into the center. From there, take the piece on the right and cross it under the left (now middle) piece. You’ll start to see the braid forming.

3). Take the section now on the left and cross it under and into the middle, and then repeat again, bringing the right under the left (now middle).

4). As you continue down, bring each outer piece under the middle to form the braid.

5). When you’re finished, secure the end of the braid with an elastic.

TOP TIP : As with the basic braid, use a small clear elastic to finish, as it won’t interfere with the look of the finished upstyle. Stretch the sides of the braid once you have finished to make the braid look fuller and thicker. This will also improve the structure of the braid.
