Side Braid

THE LOOK

For a casual yet confident look, try out a side braid. The relaxed feel of this braid works well for a casual night out and can also be dressed up for date night or a day at the office. Because side braids are so versatile and one of the easiest ways to wear your hair, this is an essential style to master.

ACCESSORIES

This style is best left simple, so choose jewelry that fits with your long braid. If you want to add something to the style, weave fresh flowers through your braid, or finish with a loose bow.

TRY THIS

A fishtail or mermaid braid would look great in this loose, relaxed style, and would add a bohemian edge.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Brush
  • Hair elastic

HOW TO GET IT SIDE BRAID

1). Brush your hair to remove any knots before you begin.

2). Make a deep side part on one side of your head and gather a large section of your hair to the other side, over your shoulder.

3). Split this large section of hair into three equal sections and form a basic braid, crossing the right section over the middle and the left section over the right.

4). Continue braiding all of your hair down over your shoulder and secure the end with an elastic.

5). Stretch the sides of your braid to make it appear fuller and so that it sits forward over your shoulder.

TOP TIP : Keep this hairstyle loose for a soft, relaxed look. Start the braid low down and let any shorter layers fall into the start of the braid. Pull at the edges of the braid to give your hair a full-bodied and casual look.
